I would definitely start by learning all the students' names properly, first and last, along with determining how their cultures will impact their behaviors in class so I'm able to teach around that. I would also make sure not to do things like plan a test for a day that kids will be out for a holiday, because that would basically be saying that I don't think their holiday/religion is important enough to recognize and plan around.
